VISIONS
Alberto Ramos - Dominican Republic Program Director
Alberto Ramos

Alberto Ramos describes himself as "an easy-going, fun-loving, hard-working bilingual Dominican." We'll add that he is indispensable to our program in the Dominican Republic. Alberto was a teenager when VISIONS arrived in his Sabana Perdida neighborhood. As a junior member of the local Lion’s Club, of which his parents, Santos and Lidia, are charter members and past Presidents, Alberto worked alongside participants building Collegio de Melvin Jones, the two-story school that is VISIONS summer home and serves as the local hurricane shelter. Alberto, Program Liaison in the DR, has been a staff leader since 1997 and plays an essential on-the-ground role as co-program director each summer. During the off season, Alberto is a high school counselor and English teacher, and organizes service trips to the DR for the White Mountain School, NH, and for the Ministry Medical International. An active volunteer in his local Lions Club and community at large, Alberto and his wife, Kenia, are the proud parents of two beautiful young children.
