VISIONS Staffers in the British Virgin Islands

VISIONS typically employs teachers, graduate students and Ph.D. candidates, returned Peace Corps volunteers, experiential outdoor educators. We seek individuals who have experience leading or teaching teenagers, who have lived and traveled in other countries and cultures, who are enthusiastic about our mission and enjoy working with teenagers in a residential setting. A VISIONS leader must be a team player first and foremost. The demands of the job make flexibility and a sense of humor indispensable also. Each program has four to six staff, including the program director who is usually a veteran of at least one full summer (two programs).

Depending on the season, our staff return rate is 43% to 55%. Average age is mid- to late 20s. Every program site employs at least one EMT or WFR and a staffer certified in WFA.

You MUST BE AT LEAST 23 years old and possess certifications in Basic First Aid and CPR current for the duration of your employment with VISIONS. Some sites require Wilderness First Aid and/or Water Safety certifications. Advanced wilderness safety certifications, carpentry or masonry skills, experience living in different cultures are not essential but are pluses in considering applicants' qualifications.

The Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua sites require fluency in Spanish; Guadeloupe requires French fluency.
