    Service Projects

Participants in the British Virgin Islands always have a wide and varied range of service to accomplish. Island governmental departments and local non-profits know that VISIONS comes to the island each season and so have us in mind for substantial projects. The Department of Social Development will have a housing project, most likely significant home renovations for a family in need. The National Parks Trust may tap us to work at the Botanic Gardens and on environmental trail projects such as building shade shelters or information kiosks.

Service in the BVI is never all construction. The Rainbow Children’s Home for disabled and handicapped children welcomes our assistance every summer. We will help with the Long Look Library children’s programs and possibly lend a hand to the BVI Humane Society.

We will work on a local farm farm where we sometimes clear land for cultivation, repair rock walls or irrigation pipes. We always compost and weed pineapple fields, plant pineapples; collect, harvest and husk coconuts; harvest gineps; and feed the livestock.
